JUST STREETS and NetZeroCities Formalise Collaboration to Accelerate Climate-Neutral Cities
At the Cities Mission Conference in Turin, Italy, JUST STREETS and NetZeroCities signed a Collaboration Agreement to strengthen cooperation and support cities working towards climate neutrality. The agreement was signed between LINKS Foundation, coordinator of JUST STREETS, and Climate-KIC Holding B.V., which coordinates the NetZeroCities platform on behalf of its consortium.
NetZeroCities is the EU Cities Mission platform supporting 112 European cities selected by the European Commission to achieve climate neutrality by 2030.
JUST STREETS is a Horizon Europe project focused on transforming car-centred streets into safer, more inclusive, and more climate-friendly public spaces. It brings together 32 partners from 14 countries and 12 pilot cities.
The collaboration agreement was signed during the Cities Mission Conference in Turin.
What the Agreement Covers
The agreement sets out practical commitments to support knowledge exchange and wider impact.
As part of the agreement, the two initiatives will organise regular coordination activities, including annual meetings and collaborative exchanges through events and conferences. The cooperation will also focus on sharing project outputs, best practices, case studies, and lessons learned through the NetZeroCities Portal Knowledge Repository.
The collaboration also foresees several joint communication and dissemination activities: both projects will amplify each other’s news, opportunities, and achievements through social media channels, newsletters, and public outreach activities.
The agreement also creates opportunities for collaboration within NetZeroCities’ thematic work on mobility, including exchanges with City Support Groups and the Mobility Dedicated Working Group. JUST STREETS solutions, pilot experiences, and expertise will support cities facing similar mobility and climate challenges.
By sharing successes, challenges, and innovative approaches, the two initiatives aim to scale up impactful solutions and foster replication across European cities.
Cities Named In the Agreement
The agreement specifically names eight JUST STREETS Pilot Cities that will be invited to share their approaches and results: Amsterdam, Metropolitan City of Milan, London Westminster, Cugir, Kozani, Braga, Riga, and Vilnius.
Of these, Amsterdam, Metropolitan City of Milan, Kozani, Riga, and Vilnius are also EU Mission Cities.
What This Means
This agreement gives JUST STREETS a formal route to share practical results from its pilot cities with a wider European city network. It helps move the project’s experience beyond individual pilots and into broader knowledge transfer, where tested approaches can support replication in other cities.
For our cities, it means easier access to shared learning, better visibility for local results, and stronger links between street-level interventions and the wider climate-neutrality agenda.
The agreement builds on the earlier Framework Memorandum of Understanding under the NetZeroCities–CIVITAS MUSE umbrella and will remain in force until the project is formally closed.
